Easter is coming and it’s a fun time to dye Easter Eggs!
Now, I don’t know about you, but soaking eggs in food coloring and artificial dye doesn’t exactly sound appetizing, so here is how to color easter eggs naturally so you can eat them as a credible snack!
Natural Dye Recipes:
Pink – Beets (1 c. shredded beets + 1 c. water + 1 Tbsp white vinegar)
Blue – Purple cabbage (1 c. shredded purple cabbage + 1 c. water + 1 Tbsp white vinegar)
Yellow – Turmeric (2 Tbsp ground turmeric + 1 c. water + 1 Tbsp white vinegar)
Lavender – Red Zinger Tea (1 bag + 1 c. water + 1 Tbsp white vinegar)
How to make naturally dyed Easter eggs:
- Add water and food (beets, cabbage, etc.) to bowl
- Microwave for 2-3 minutes until water changes color (or simmer on the stove for 15 min)
- Strain dyed water into a bowl and add vinegar
- Soak peeled hard-boiled eggs in dye until the desired color is reached (a few moments to overnight)
Try these on white and brown eggs to get different results or mix colors :)
Happy Easter!
